But who is afraid of a .png file? First of all let me clarify that it is an image file format, hence, many of you might be thinking that it should not pose any problem for our smartphone right? Well, now according to the latest reports, it has been discovered that an image file is enough to attack an Android mobile device.

As explained in the journal, the attackers simply use a file in .PNG format to attack a smartphone or tablet. However, the ‘design’ of this type of files has not been specified in .png format, simply to avoid the use of the security failure, but with them, arbitrary code with privileges on the system can be executed and it affects Android 7.0, Android 9.0 and all versions between these two versions of OS.

It does not take more than a .PNG (image) file to break the security of an Android device, and it also does not matter if it is a smartphone or a tablet. As the devices that receive direct updates from the Mountain View company, of course, the tech giant Google which is the Pixel and Android One, must have already received this security patch that solves this important security flaw regarding the images in .png format.

However, many other devices with the affected versions will never receive the update that has just been released by the Mountain View company, of course, the tech giant Google.
